How To Help Get Better Mental Health

What is mental health? 

Mental health, defined by the World Health Organization, is "a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community" Mental health to me is the mindset of the brain and physical attitude to wanting to get up and do stuff that you enjoy not having that on top of stress can be very disruptive to you being able to do the thing that need to be done There are different types of mental Health such as; 

  • Mood Disorders (such as Depression or bipolar disorder) 
  • Anxiety  
  • Personality disorders 
  • Psychotic disorder (such as schizophrenia)  
  • Eating disorders  
  • Trauma related disorders (such as Post-Traumatic Stress) 
  • Substance Abuse disorder

How to spot signs of mental health in people 

There is a lot of symptoms to spot and look out for in someone who might have problems with mental health and they include;

 

  • Hearing Voices 
  • Constantly Feeling Sad 
  • Difficulty Sleeping 
  • Hallucinating 
  • Self-Harm 
  • Low-Self Esteem 
  • Mood Swings 
  • Suicidal Thoughts 
  • Racing Thoughts 
  • Negative Thinking 
  • Wight Loss

Top 10 tips to help with getting better Mental Health 

 

  • Get plenty of sleep (sleep is really important for our physical and mental health) 
  • Eat healthy and well 
  • Avoid Alcohol, Smoking and Drugs 
  • Get plenty of sunlight 
  • Manage stress 
  • Activity and Exercise 
  •  Always do the stuff you Enjoy 
  • Connect with Others and Be Sociable 
  • Do things for others 
  • And Most Importantly ask for Help

 

With the problems I went through having poor or bad mental health a tip that I was given that helped me was that if you're feeling down to the point you wanted to self-harm instead of actually doing it get a rubber band and use that by letting it hit you skin giving and sending the feeling that you hurt yourself to your brain without actually leaving a mark then you can start to move away from that by doing it less and less.
