Who am I and what is my background? Hi everybody I’m Tyler Ody I am a 19-year-old autistic student from Horizons College.
Before Horizons I went to Crowdys Hill school. I enjoyed my time there and my favourite subject was science.
I was diagnosed with autism when I was 4 years old - I am really proud to be autistic! I had a great school life with cool friends and teachers. I live with my mum, dad and my sister Teagan.
What I am interested in and how I spend my time
I love listening to 80s/90s and 2000s music, socialising with family. I also like going to the gym and going for walks. I have an interest in journalism and currently do work experience at Swindon 105.5 and Swindon link magazine.
What my work experience placement at Swindon 105.5 is like
I really enjoy going to Swindon 105.5 - I have been going there for 3 years and have produced features on my favourite singers and guests who presented a show. Shirley Ludford is a cool station manager and is very helpful with all the volunteers. I attend Swindon 105.5 on a Tuesday.
What my work experience at Swindon Link magazine is like
My work with the link magazine is amazing - I have been there for 5 months and it has helped me write articles to put online and some of them have even made it into the Link and Ocelot printed magazines. The staff are kind and helpful, and Jamie Hill the editor is a cool guy and is good with advice how to put articles online.
How has my work experience helped me
My work placements have helped me boost my confidence I learnt how to use cool editing software and how to edit my feature. I have also learnt how to preview articles before publishing them and how to put a picture into the articles.
My advice to other young people who are looking to build their experience and confidence
My advice to other young people looking to build their confidence is to keep reaching for the stars and don’t doubt yourself – to do well for the future you should try your best at everything you do.
