I am interested in makeup artistry because when I was about 7 years old I watched Harry Potter and I asked my foster mum if the goblins were real people – and they were! So I found out about make up artistry and prosthetics in film and it really interested me.
I watch Youtube videos to help me practice my makeup. I watch a Youtuber called James Charles who is a really famous makeup artist. Here’s a link to one of his videos:

James Charles’ video has 5,228,516 views. He has 16.9 million subscribers, showing how popular he is. I think he is inspiring because he has made men see that it is ok to have your own image and own style. For young people it shows you can achieve anything you want to, if you believe in yourself. It also shows that makeup artists are becoming more widely known in media.
At college you can study Media Makeup Artistry Level 3. I am interested in this course because it’s a exciting course which can lead into Fashion, TV, special effects, Film and Theatrical Make-up.
If you want to be a make up artist then it is now possible to make a career out of it.
The #iDARE youth publication is a a fully funded project open to any young people aged 13-20 (or up to 24 if disabled) based around Swindon.
