Hey! I'm Ellie Brown, and I had the role of being
assistant editor of the #iDare magazine and blog for July!
I go to New College and I used to study childcare but decided to change to photography as I realised it wasn’t meant for me after I started and I am interested in Marketing now.
I then joined the Platform Project because I felt that I needed to build my confidence up and heard that there was photography involved!
Then after working in the #iDare team for a couple of months the opportunity to be the Assistant Editor came up. I wanted to be an assistant editor because I knew it would help me be more confident and help other people be confident, so I volunteered, and the team agreed!
As an assistant editor I do the promotional videos that will help the magazine promote what we are and what we do. I also did the morning briefings and came in early to help Sadie to see where everyone was at and then I would even run the briefings which was fun!
In the project I have learned to be more organised when working and have gained skills. When I joined the project at first, I would have never had the confidence to do the briefings and stand up in front of people, now even though its still a little bit scary I still feel like I can do it.
So, I would like to be assistant editor again as it will help for my CV, and I also wanted to do marketing so this will help build my experience!
The #iDARE youth publication is a a fully funded project open to any young people aged 13-20 (or up to 24 if disabled) based around Swindon.
If you would like to become a participant, volunteer your time to help run it,
