We decided that it is important that people understand the different types of sexuality, so we decided to research what the different terms mean and do a definitions list for you. You're welcome! ;-)
1. Asexual – someone who does not feel sexual attraction
2. Bicurious – People who are curious about whether they like people of the same gender or not
3. Coming Out – People who are in the process of accepting their sexuality
4. Demisexual – People who feel an emotional connection before they feel a sexual attraction
5. Erasure – Someone who’s not attracted to any genders or sexualities
6. Fluid-sexuality – Someone who’s sexuality changes
7. Gynecophilia – Someone who is attracted to feminine people
8. Homosexual – Someone who’s attracted to people of the same gender
9. Intersex – Someone who was born with both genders
10. Lipstick Lesbian – Lesbians who are more feminine
11. Mx – Gender neutral version of Mr or Mrs
12. Omnisexual - When someone is attracted to all genders
13. Pansexual – Is attracted to someone regardless of gender
14. Queer – Someone who doesn’t identify as straight or is questioning their sexuality
15. Stealth - Someone who is transgender but hasn’t told anyone
16. Transgender - Someone born one gender but wanted to be another gender
17. Ze/ Zir - gender neutral pronouns
The #iDARE youth publication is a a fully funded project open to any young people aged 13-20 (or up to 24 if disabled) based around Swindon.
